The following is a 43 year-old, mother of two, who wishes a breast lift. She did not wish to have a breast augmentation at the time of surgery. She was happy with her breast size. On the following pages you will see that she appears to be a full B/small C cup. In addition you will see that she is "flat" in the superior pole of her breast. One of the things that a mastopexy will not do is fill the superior pole of the breast. Breast augmentation is required for this.
There are many types of mastopexies. There is a full, Weis pattern, mastopexy which this patient had. There is a vertical scar mastopexy which does not have a horizontal component. There is a peri-areolar mastopexy with a scar around the areola. Finally there is a cresent mastopexy, with an incision above the areola.
Dr. Bain is able to perform any of the above techniques in order to lift your breasts. As a patient, you must be aware that each type of mastopexy has specific indications. Each one of them can be used to lift the breast a certain amount, after that limit is reached, a different technique must be used. If the incorrect technique is used, ugly scarring can be the result. In fact, using the incorrect technique and the scarring that can result from it is the number one cause of lawsuits against plastic surgeons.
Dr. Bain makes every effort to protect his patients' identities and privacy.
